CONOVER, N.C. – Utili-Serve, LLC, a utility infrastructure construction company, has announced plans to invest at least $11 million to expand its Conover headquarters and manufacturing facility, creating at least 105 new jobs over the next three years. Founded in Conover in 2008, the company provides essential services to the electrical power industry, including substation construction and maintenance, transformer and apparatus services, protective relay panel manufacturing, installation and commissioning, as well as general construction services. Utili-Serve currently operates 30 specialized construction crews across the Southeast United States, focused on delivering power safely, reliably, and sustainably.

Utili-Serve upgrades existing substation facilities and installs turnkey modern facilities for voltages from 4.16kV up to 525kV.

The Conover headquarters expansion is part of a broader strategic growth plan that will add 105 employees across the company’s operations to support utility-scale grid projects from Virginia to Florida. The project will also bring field control and protective relay panel manufacturing to the Conover facility, expanding Utili-Serve’s ability to better support energy providers. This investment will establish the headquarters as a regional hub for project management, manufacturing, and logistics, enhancing Utili-Serve’s ability to manage projects from design and fabrication through field deployment. The new positions in Catawba County will offer an average annual salary of approximately $62,400, which exceeds the county’s average wage.

“Conover is our home. Since 2008, we have connected the greater Charlotte Area and the Southeast United States to power, said Ben Dietrich, President. As grid demand grows, Utili-Serve is committed to supporting our energy partners, investing locally, expanding our capabilities, and creating new opportunities for our employees and community.”

“Reliable power infrastructure is essential to nearly every part of our economy,” said Randy Isenhower, Chair of the Catawba County Board of Commissioners. “It is exciting to see a Catawba County company helping strengthen the electric grid across the Southeast while continuing to invest and create good-paying jobs here at home.”

“Utili-Serve started in Conover, grew in Conover and is now choosing to make its next major investment here,” said City of Conover Mayor Kyle Hayman. “That is the kind of homegrown success story we are proud to support. It shows what can happen when a company puts down roots in a community and that community remains committed to its growth.”

From substations to power plants, Utili-Serve offers accurate installation, testing, and commissioning of protective relay and electrical equipment.

“Throughout this process, Utili-Serve has indicated to our EDC team a desire to better engage the community's workforce pipelines,” said Jeff Cline, Chair of the Catawba County EDC Board of Directors. “We look forward to working with them as they navigate and grow their talent needs. This expansion creates more than jobs. It creates long-term career opportunities while strengthening a company that is already deeply invested in our community.”

Public hearings on potential local incentives for the expansion will be held November 2, 2026 at the regular meetings of the Catawba County Board of Commissioners and the Conover City Council.
