Shurtape Technologies breaks ground on center

HICKORY, N.C. (September 2019) - Shurtape Technolgogies, LLC, an industry-leading manufacturer and marketer of adhesive tape and consumer home and office products, has officially broken ground on a new distribution center in Catawba, N.C.

Expected to open in Spring 2020, the facility will offer 205,000 square feet of high bay storage, with the capability of expanding to 1 million square feet, including space for light manufacturing operations.  The new facility will support the Company's retail and industrial distribution requirements in the southeastern United States.

More then 30 team members currently employed at Shurtape's distribution center in Catawba will transfer to the new facility and the Company expects to add 100 new positions over the next four years to support the continued growth of the business.

"We elected to stay in Catawba because it's geographically well-placed among our many tape manufacturing facilities in the Unifour area as well as among our customers in the Southeast.  It's also our strong preference to create jobs and increase investment in the communities that have historically been so supportive of our company," said Stephen Shuford, CEO, Shurtape Technologies' Industrial Group.  "We appreciate the support of the town of Catawba, Catawba County and the state as we celebrate this latest growth milestone.

Shurtape expects to invest over #31 million in the project, which is being facilitated, in part, by a Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) that was approved by the state's Economic Investment Committee.

The company selected ARCO Murray Construction out of Chicago, Ill., to lead the project - the same partner that was tapped by Shurtape to  lead the construction of its Oklahoma City distribution center in 2014.  Local contractors and partners are also being utilized, including Neill Grading, which is responsible for site preparation.
