Bolstered by a strong work ethic among decidedly
skilled and highly educated employees, Catawba County's workforce
has proven to be adaptable to the requirements of our most
diversified industries. The labor force remains non-union and
consists of dedicated employees whose work ethic stems from a proud
regional history of manufacturing.
Catawba County’s esteemed higher education
institutions offer targeted workforce training programs and hone the
specific skills that employees need in the region’s increasingly
dynamic economic environment. Organizations such as Catawba Valley
Community College provide customized training for new and expanding
industries.
The
Employment Security Commission of North Carolina is also
readily available to assist companies with recruitment and screening
at no cost to employers. Businesses that relocate to one of the

highly trained and educated workforce.
The EDC Committee of 100 commissioned The
Pathfinders Group, an independent analysis firm from Dallas, Texas,
to do a labor analysis of the laborshed serving Catawba County in
order to determine our real under- and un-employment circumstances.
Armed with a true understanding of our labor picture, we are able to
more accurately quantify our workforce availability to prospective
employers.
